A Multi-facility building of about 1,00,000 square feet which serves as the entrance to the Campus of the National Academy of Construction, it is conceived to be a synergetic fusion of architecture and structure. The main structural frame of the building is designed as a dramatic A-frame with the floors suspended between the overhanging frames. The building thus hovers above the ground with the landscaping extending through and through at the ground level. A soaring open to sky atrium is formed between the two overhanging wings which serve as an outdoor exhibit and public gathering area. The floors above are approached by ramps and staircases from this soaring space. Common facilities include large exhibition halls, a central library, an auditorium, a small cafeteria and other supporting areas such as green rooms, toilets, storage areas, etc,. The configuration and proportion of the spaces along with wide windows with deep overhangs creates a building with adequate ventilation and light thereby reducing energy demand. Coupled with sensitive climatic design are the almost column free spaces offering easy flexibility in the usage of space.
