An academic campus with facilities such as lecture halls, faculty rooms, discussion rooms , library administrative areas, student/staff cafeteria, hostel and auditorium. The design integrates and interweaves the indoors and outdoors creating a stimulating and enabling spatial experience. All the facilities are designed to be single room deep with adequate openings to capture indirect light and allow cross ventilation. The open corridors lining the courts provide access to the facilities besides offering a setting for interaction. Discussion areas with blackboards are provided at focal points of the corridors for informal exchange and study Climatically the use of burnt clay bricks as the infill panel wall reduces heat gain which is further modulated by adequate cross ventilation vital to the humid climate. Ecologically the choice of solar passive design , water harvesting and reuse , waste water technologies such as an oxidation pond and reed bed , vermiculture , the use of energy efficient lighting fixtures , the use of local materials and landscaping and exterior design to reduce heat islands results in an environmentally friendly and energy efficient campus.
